This course is geared towards learning and developing a basic masonry skill set. It will begin each day with a small amount of classroom time, but most of the day will be spent learning masonry skills and building various projects.
9-T, 3-C&S, 2-H&S, 2-C&L

This 5-day course combines morning classroom theory with hands-on projects, covering skills such as bricklaying, chimney construction, and repair techniques. Designed to provide basic knowledge and practical skills, the class includes one-on-one time with instructors with 35+ years of masterful experience.
12-T, 2-C&S, 2-H&S

This 6-day course begins with repairing existing fireboxes and smoke chambers. However, the bulk of the class will be building a firebox and smoke chamber, layout and building a brick face with an arched opening and a hearth extension. Participants will build the firebrick PriorFire. This is a very intensive advanced class that will help you take your skills to the higher level.
7-T, 2.5-C&S, 2.5-H&S, 4-B

When installing wood burning appliances, you need to know what chimney is required. CSIA is now offering a hands-on class that will help you understand how a factory-built chimney is installed. We will cover new installations, including all the components needed for wall pass through and ceiling applications.
10-T, 2-C&S

Understanding the needs of customers and staff can be very challenging. CSIA is offering a two-day customer service course that will jumpstart any representative and help them better understand how to answer questions both internally and externally. This course is designed to improve communication, learn the importance of conflict resolution, and further their knowledge of fireplaces and appliances to provide better service within the chimney and hearth industry. There will be a combination of lecture presentations, hands-on activities, and role-playing scenarios. This course will provide a well-rounded educational experience for you to share with the rest of your team.
2-T, 4-C&L, 6-B

Many of the existing stock factory built fireplaces are in need of replacement. This provides a profitable opportunity for many companies. This class gives students the opportunity to both learn in the classroom and practice their skills on the CSIA Technology Center. We utilize the Prior Structure, which contains a factory built fireplace with every defect we could think to sharpen your inspection skills. You will have the hands-on experience of removing an old fireplace and replacing it with a new unit while utilizing various finish techniques.
6-T, 4-C&S, 3-C&L, 3-H&S

This course features a combination of classroom and hands-on activities. The hands-on learning will go into detail on installing liners for fireplaces, freestanding appliances, and inserts. Learn what you should and should not do while installing liners to those appliances based on the manufacturer’s installation instructions, and codes and standards.
6-T, 4-C&S, 3-C&L, 3-H&S

This two-day course offers hands-on training in the assembly, disassembly, and safe use of mason scaffolding for chimney access. Participants will build and dismantle scaffolding while learning its practical applications, limitations, and key safety considerations to minimize risk. This course is ideal for those seeking real-world experience in scaffold setup for residential chimney work.
6-T, 6-H&S

This 2-day course covers proper planning and installation techniques for gas hearth appliances. All major gas hearth appliances will be covered, including fireplaces, gas log sets, inserts, and freestanding stoves. We will also discuss venting methods such as conventional type B vent, direct vent, liner systems, and vent free.
10-T, 1-C&S, 1-H&S

In this three-day hands-on class, we delve into the components and operating principles of gas hearth appliances. There will be demonstrations of various systems at work. Students will learn to use testing equipment and practice testing protocols to efficiently diagnose and repair malfunctioning gas hearth appliances. This class will give the student confidence to service manual, automatic, and electronic gas systems based on a thorough understanding of system operation.
12-T, 4-C&S
