About the Chimney Sweep Institute of America The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) is an IRS 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to the education, training, research, and certification of the chimney and venting industry-related professionals. The organization pays no federal or state taxes. The Institute is governed by a Board of Trustees. Additionally, we strive to advance public awareness about the dangers of chimney fires and other problems related to the maintenance and performance of chimney and venting systems through consumer education. We’ve been the industry leader in chimney and venting education since 1983, and our nationally recognized credentials include the CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep®, CSIA Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician®, CSIA Certified Master Chimney Sweep®, and CSIA Certified Chimney Specialist®. |

Terms
Members of the Board of Trustees of the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) make the policies for the Institute and monitor the execution of those policies. The Board determines its present and future direction including general and specific policies, long-range planning, management and augmentation of finances, personnel policy, and working relationship with the Chief Executive Officer. In addition, individual board members:
Individuals who demonstrate ability and commitment to CSIA are logical candidates for membership on the Board of Trustees. Board Members should be selected with specific criteria in mind, among which the following should be considered minimum prerequisites: 1. Must hold a current certification issued by CSIA; 2. Work within the Industry; 3. Actively commit to support and value CSIA and its mission and value; 4. Represent Certified individuals fairly and consistently.
