(er… Fall? Depends where you live – it was in the 30’s a few mornings here in Central Indiana where CSIA is HQ’d)

“Busy season” has kicked off for Certified Chimney Sweeps® across the country. Usually from Labor Day through January, most markets are slammed with inspection and sweeping appointments. It is not uncommon for a homeowner to call a chimney and venting company and find that their next opening isn’t for weeks. (hint: most chimney and venting companies will tell you spring and summer are the best months).

That said, we thought we’d take a minute and analyze our website hits and let companies know what homeowners have been looking at this fall in regards to their chimney and venting system.

As always, the home page (www.csia.org) and the technician locator are the two biggest hits on our website. People are looking for a Certified Chimney Sweep® more in 2018 than in the previous two or three years. This is great news for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, CSIA is glad that more homeowners care about the safe operation of their heating appliances and chimney. Second, it means that your investment in education and certification through CSIA is sending more homeowners to the qualified and ethical Certified Chimney Sweeps® credentialed by CSIA.

Homeowners are also looking for information on their fireplace. A close second runner up is our fireplace anatomy page, as well as looking for information on gas appliances, chimney liners, and installing wood stoves and inserts.

Additionally, chimney fires are a hot topic (get it? Ok, we’ll stop) on the CSIA website, logging quite a few views as well.

These are just the top pages that website visitors are navigating to on the CSIA site. What are your customers asking you this season? What are you finding yourself explaining most to customers? Frankly, we’re a little surprised we haven’t seen more hits on firewood information this year (as we all know, burning the right wood makes chimney inspection and sweeping so much easier.)Let us know in the comments.
