The Chimney Safety Institute of America enjoys great relationships with many organizations, which we call our affiliated trades.

These organizations help us get out our safety message to the general public via those on the front line – whether that be a home inspector, a firefighter, or someone in the hearth business.

In March and April, we’ll be exhibiting at high-level events.

We are headed to the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association 2014 Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah, from March 4-8.

Our director of education, Ashley Eldridge, will be speaking at the conference, talking about chimney related matters of interest to hundreds of attendees at an event that is billed as North America’s largest indoor-outdoor living showcase, with manufacturers, suppliers and industry insiders.

While managing our booth at the HPBA Expo, we’ll have the opportunity to talk shop with many fireplace and stove professionals, getting the latest information on where the industry is headed.

At HBPA Expo, the Chimney Safety Institute of America will really be stressing to retailers the importance of making referrals for chimney and fireplace inspections and repairs.

We’re also looking for manufacturers to add CSIA to their product installation manuals.

Retailers, for example, told us at the HPBA Expo show in Orlando in 2013 that they wanted to be positive that they’re offering their client a reputable and educated referral. We’ll also be promoting an affordable and useful business tool: Our Health and Safety Multi-User courses. Any retail or service company in the hearth industry with multiple employees can use them to comply with OSHA requirements.

From there, the CSIA will then participate, as we always do, as an exhibitor at Innovation 2014, the yearly convention featuring hundreds of chimney sweep industry professionals.

Put on by our sister organization, the National Chimney Sweep Guild, we’ll be talking about the importance of industry education, most particularly emphasizing the 70 classes that make up our affordable online e-learning, also known as the Chimney Academy.  Innovation ’14 will be held in Columbus, Ohio.

In early April, CSIA will have a booth (for the first time in years) as an exhibitor at the 2014 Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, which is one of the largest expos of its kind, dedicated to our nation’s bravest. Many classes are held that offer first-responders realistic scenarios for training.

Vendors come showing the latest in fire-fighting technology and gear. CSIA will debut a new digital brochure that we hope firefighters across the U.S. will distribute to victims of chimney fires. The FDIC is in the CSIA’s backyard, and it’s a great opportunity for us to maximize outreach!
