Chimney Safety Institute of America professional certification is the media-respected and industry-recognized gold standard that provides reassurance to customers that the chimney sweep they have hired not only is professionally trained, but brings competence, commitment and care to the customer’s home.

A CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep believes in ongoing training, education and ethics – not shortcuts. Any competing recognition should be held to the same highest exacting standards, including continuing education requirements. CSIA provides both hands-on training and best-practices learning opportunities.

The longevity of competing entities that grant “certifications” isn’t guaranteed. CSIA – which is governed by volunteers – has survived and thrived for three decades, for a reason.

Additionally, our CSIA.org sweep search tool helps generate solid leads for our certified professionals. Certified sweeps receive 100 referral hits through the system each year, worth an average of $15,000. That alone makes the certification process a huge payoff.

Moreover, CSIA plans to expand the use of social media. But we will be focusing these publicity efforts on companies who employ CSIA Certified Chimney Sweeps. We’re also working with consumer ratings services agencies so they recommend to their customers (and sweeps’ potential clients) CSIA certification.
